I am a graphic designer and illustrator with a passion for all things whimsical. As a designer, I take every opportunity to explore new artistic directions. During the process, have found a deep connection to the pen. While in high school, I was introduced to the art of zentangles.
When it was time for us to create our own, we were told to only use pen. This seemed like a strange concept, creating a piece of work with no set direction for the first time with a pen. But after I completed it, I was hooked and my artistic process was changed forever. To me, the pen represents permanence and puts emphasis on the importance of being adaptable. Once you use a pen, the mark is there, regardless of whether it was intended to look another way, and you are forced to adapt to it instead of simply erasing it until it is perfect.
